Sad! Afua Asantewaa’s sing-a-thon attempt Rejected – Guinness World Records announces

Ghana’s Afua Asantewaa’s sing-a-thon attempt rejected earlier today by the Guinness World Records.

Guinness World Records has announced that Ghana’s Afua Asantewaa did not succeed in breaking the longest singing marathon record she attempted in December 2023. Despite this outcome, they expressed hope that she would consider making another attempt. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), they acknowledged the inspiration she has been to her fans and wished her the best of luck with any future record endeavors.

The organization also confirmed that the money paid by Afua Asantewaa’s team for a priority review has been refunded. Asantewaa’s challenge began at midnight on Sunday, December 24, 2023, and lasted until 7:00 am on December 29, 2023. She sang continuously for five days, six hours, and 55 minutes in her attempt to surpass the existing record of 105 hours set in 2012.

Upon concluding her record attempt on Friday morning, Afua Asantewaa emotionally performed Osibisa’s ‘Woyaya’. Her efforts were later honored with the playing of the national anthem to celebrate her determination.
